Wiskers

Driving through the Refuge this bedded Whitetail doe decided I was not welcome and she upped and took off. I managed to snap a few shots and captured this shot with the sun dancing on her whiskers. Canon 50D and Sigma 150-500mm Telephoto. f/8 ISO-400 for 1/200 sec exposure at 500mm focal length. Sunlight white balanceand center weighted average metering. Truck window as rest.

Setting Sun

I braved the swarms of blood sucking bugs to catch this shot. Sunset over Benton lake Refuge near great Falls, MT. This was taken with Canon 50D camera with Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens. f/16 ISO-200 for 1/100 sec exposure at 10mm focal length. Sunlight white balance and center weighted average metering. Shot off hand.

The Glow

As I was waiting to take some sunset shots at Benton Lake Wildlife Refuge, MT the glow grew nicely over the water. This pair of Western Grebe made for a nice silhouette against the orange water. Shot with Canon 50D and Sigma 18-250mm DC OS HSM lens. f/8 ISO-200 1/320 sec exposure at 250mm focal length. Sunlight white balance and center weighted average metering. Shot off hand.

Detail and Color

I was out playing with my new Sigma 150-500mm Telephoto on some birds at Ryan Dam in Great Falls, MT. The bridge that leads out to the island and Great Falls viewing area seemed to have all the bird action so I stood along the railing and waited. This Cedar Waxwing shot turned out to be my favorite shot of the day. The detail and colors turned out great. Shot with Canon 50D. f/6.3, 1/60sec exposure, ISO-400 at 403mm focal length. Sunlight White Balance and center weighted average metering. Used railing as rest.
